GPS enabled radio often get sunrise/sunset data from the GPS satellites and use that info to determine when to dim the display. I have a 2005 avalanche (onstar and bose, I have the adapter to keep both), when he hooked up the illumination wire he hooked it up to the illumination wire coming How about Sony?

I just didn't want to mess with pulling the gauge pod. 3. There have been far too many cases where people fried some dashboard illumination circuits by hooking that wire up. Hope This Helps!!!
