I bought the ATV used, but there were no indications that any attempt had been made to fix the speedometer. I have searched the web and called numerous dealers with negative results. If I leave the ignition on the lights and fuel pump will come on for a couple of seconds and then go off. WEW $70 later. the Zener diode has a bit of rust color on the bottom end covering the actual solder. No, it was caused by my conditions. then it didnt.
How would I test for regulator or generating problems? At some point the transistor overheated and eventually failed internally, shorting itself out. Most folks love their machines when they are running so just an effective recal program would satisfy most users. The power isn't getting to the ignition or the instrument cluster.
Now that the problem has gotten to where it will not start at all they said it is the ECM.
