I typically keep my machine plugged in all the time, and put it to sleep (rather than shut down) when I'm not using it. Computer shows green ring, plugged in, NOT charging. If you replace the DC-Inverter board and there is still no charging then the last item would be the logicboard. I can't find the old battery either so cannot test to isolate if it's the battery or the DC board causing the problem. No, create an account now. However, a working OEM battery might give you more consistent performance than 3rd party...3rd party batteries have a tendency to have erratic behavior, whereas when OEM goes bad it's more along I only came to this conclusion through a process of elimination so I agree it isn't concrete proof but it's good enough for me to warrant giving up trying to bother
You'll need to get your AC/Sound card replaced. At the very least though it still charged when plugged in. My battery is only a few months old so I trust that it's still good. Too expensive for an old computer.
