You might want to flash your BIOS if your motherboard if over a 12-18 months old. What it does is turn on hibernate and alters all the timeouts in your preferred option to 15 hours (900 minutes) before it shuts down. My 16 months old daughter kept pressing the power button when she's around. Apparently the instruction to never turn off monitor and never use sleep mode went to the wrong bus. his comment is here

Why is Windows 7 doing this? If I started it in safe mode it worked fine. I connected a wireless keyboard/mouse into USB, and my screensaver stopped working.SOLUTION: unplug wireless keyboard mouse from USB and instead use a USB/PS2 adapter to connect mouse. Turning ON the screen saver, then the power settings worked.

What finally helped was changing the computer's power supply cable. I was experiencing the same problem and was starting to get really frustrated. After the videos and stuff go slow my comp just goes to sleep and when a press any button to make it wake up it stays asleep for maybe 5 mins. Havent picked my registry's brain yet wouldnt know where to begin not that smart always google everthing there lol.
Restart and your system will wake up because it is forced to recognize the change in ram.
